Give the Gift of Editing!

It’s Black Friday, and that means the Christmas season has officially begun! Prepare yourselves: The onslaught of advertisements is going to hit you harder than indigestion from last night’s turkey dinner.

Perhaps someone in your life is a writer and has dreams of publishing a book. Why not give them the gift of book editing?

For someone who is serious about their writing career, hiring a professional editor is the most effective way to improve their manuscript and become a better writer. A knowledgeable book editor will analyze and edit any errors in writing, flow, plot, or word choice, improving the author’s manuscript and working one-on-one to highlight his or her strengths and teach to correct the errors in her writing.

Although some authors jump right in with one of my three book editing packages, many prefer to get to know my services before committing to an entire manuscript edit. And that’s why the first chapter critique is a great gift-giving option!

First Chapter Critique

Does your opening chapter have what it takes to snag the reader? Will your reader be intrigued enough to continue reading?

In my first chapter critique service, I critique your first chapter (up to 4,000 words), writing on the manuscript itself and addressing issues that I may have as a first-time reader (for example, pointing out something that is too vague, inconsistent, etc.).

I also write a 5-page evaluation report in which I evaluate and detail issues in your first chapter’s sources of conflict, plot development, pacing, point of view/perspective, and character development.

Price: $250

Imagine the way their face will light up when they see that you’ve thoughtfully decided to invest in their work as a Christmas gift to them! Authors are always happy when they work with me—just see my testimonials to prove it. I can hold a spot on my schedule anytime into late next year so the author you know can take their time finishing their first chapter before sending it to me.

Contact me to ask questions or book this special, and I’ll send an e-gift certificate to put under the tree for the lucky writer in your life.

Happy shopping, and may your days be merry and bright.
